GAYLORD GATORS UPDATE 11/17/20
Hello Gaylord Gator Swim Families,
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has issued a new emergency order Sunday, November 15, 2020, that enacts a 3 week pause targeting indoor social gatherings and group activities in an effort to curb the rapidly rising CoVID-19 infection rates. As per these orders the Otsego County SportsPlex has had to pause our Gaylord Gator Swim Practice beginning Wednesday, November 18, 2020 through Tuesday, December 8, 2020. The pool will remain open for individual lap swimming from 6:00am-6:00pm. The only time our swimmers will not be allowed to swim will be “adult” swim and any uninstructed aquafit.
This means we are yet again faced with changing the structure of our program. Instead of having our regular dryland and pool practice the team will be purchasing lap/open swim Punch Cards for our swimmers to use during a Lap Swim or Open Swim. The main office will have our list of swimmers and punch cards. They will keep track of our pass use and we will continue to have punches available throughout this pause. Please pay attention to the pool schedule and be aware that is a first come first swim availability. Also please do not Swim with more than 2-3 swimmers in a lane.
Coach Leslie and Coach Jessica will have different workouts laminated for swimmers to use when they are at the pool. Please have your swimmer take one, swim the workout and then sanitize and return it to the “Practice folder.” This folder will be located on the desk outside the pool office on the pool deck. Masked Parents can sit on the blue bench on the pool deck or in the bleachers and keep their kids on task but may not get up and walk around giving instruction. Coach Leslie will also be emailing Weekly Swimmer Dryland workouts that the kids can do daily.
In addition to this, if nothing further changes or goes into effect we will be adding practices during winter break. These dates are as follows:
Monday, December 21, 2020
Tuesday, December 22, 2020
Wednesday, December 23, 2020
Monday, December 28, 2020
Tuesday, December 29, 2020
Wednesday, December 30, 2020.
Coach Leslie is available for any and all questions, feel free to email, call, text or facetime. She can give technique advice over facetime while swimmers are at the pool or have a parent take a video and she can review and give instruction this way as well.
Again THANK YOU for continuing to roll with these changes as we are in an unprecedented time and want our kids to continue in this sport, adapting to new guideline put in place for our health and safety.
